Abstract:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of tadalafil (Cialis) in the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men with diabetes. This multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study was conducted in the Uppsala-Gambardia region, Germany. A total of 100 men with type 2 diabetes, aged 45.4 ± 8.5 years, with normal or moderate glycemic control, were randomized to receive a treatment regimen consisting of Cialis at a daily dose of 10 mg/day for 12 weeks. The primary outcome was the proportion of patients with erections, and the secondary outcome was the percentage of successful attempts in the first 5 months of therapy (at least 3 attempts on erections). Erections were measured using a penile ultrasound probe and were rated using a visual analog scale (VAS). The percentage of successful attempts was calculated by using the formula: 100 % = (mean ± SD) / (mean ± SD). The primary objective was to evaluate the efficacy of treatment, based on the primary outcome. Results were analyzed using t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Of the 100 patients, 25 (35%) were satisfied with treatment and the other 15 (20%) were not satisfied and did not achieve any successful attempts. After 12 weeks of treatment, there was no significant difference between the patients who did and those who did not achieve successful attempts (p = 0.78). This result was not statistically different from the group who did not achieve successful attempts (p = 0.074). The percentage of successful attempts in the first 5 months of treatment was significantly higher in the group who had more frequent success (71.5% vs. 34.9%, p = 0.000). This study demonstrated that the efficacy of tadalafil was not influenced by glycemic control.
Tadalafil is an effective and safe treatment for erectile dysfunction in men with diabetes. In this multicenter, double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study, 100 men with type 2 diabetes were randomized to receive a treatment regimen consisting of 10 mg tadalafil daily for 12 weeks. The primary outcome was the percentage of successful attempts in the first 5 months of therapy, and this percentage was significantly higher than that of the patients who did not achieve successful attempts (p = 0.01). The percentage of successful attempts in the first 5 months of treatment was significantly higher in the group who had more frequent success (69.5% vs. 32.8%, p = 0.000) and those who did not achieve successful attempts (p = 0.02). The percentage of successful attempts in the first 5 months of treatment was significantly higher in the group who had more frequent success (63.9% vs. 28.4%, p = 0.000) and those who did not achieve successful attempts (p = 0.02). 30.6%, p = 0.000) and those who did not achieve successful attempts (p = 0.01). The percentage of successful attempts in the first 5 months of treatment was significantly higher in the group who had more frequent success (31.8% vs. 10.2%, p = 0.000) and those who did not achieve successful attempts (p = 0.03). This study demonstrated that tadalafil was effective and safe in the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men with diabetes.Tadalafil is an orally administered phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor (PDE5i) used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men with diabetes. The clinical effectiveness of tadalafil has been demonstrated in several recent studies. This study investigated the efficacy and safety of tadalafil in men with diabetes treated with the PDE5i. A total of 100 men with type 2 diabetes, aged 45.4 ± 8.5 years, with normal or moderate glycemic control, who were randomized to receive a daily treatment regimen consisting of 10 mg tadalafil for 12 weeks, were treated with either 10 or 20 mg tadalafil daily for 6 weeks. The primary outcome was the percentage of successful attempts in the first 5 months of therapy, and this percentage was significantly higher in the patients who achieved successful attempts (80.8% vs. 34.4%, p = 0.000) and those who did not achieve successful attempts (28.4% vs. 9.0%, p = 0.0001).1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).
2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.
3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.
Cialis (tadalafil) can interact with certain foods and beverages, potentially altering its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Here are the key drug-food interactions to be aware of:
